This information applies to licensing tasks which can be performed by Gun Dealers.
You will be required to verify the ID of all MIRCS Massachusetts Instant Record Check System, the computer application for which this user guide is written license holders when you start a sales transaction. You will also need to re-verify a customer's ID if you complete a gun sale separately from the initial transaction (e.g. you begin another sale, while waiting for a NICS National Instant Check System response, and then return to the first sale to after receiving an answer from NICS).
Directions:
Place the customer's specified finger on the PID Positive Identification Device, the device used to capture a single fingerprint for identification purposes.
Click the Verify Identity button.
Adjust the finger
as necessary to facilitate the capture of a print.
Results:
If the verification was successful, MIRCS will advance to the next screen. If the verification was not successful, MIRCS will display a verification unsuccessful screen, and allow you to re-capture the fingerprint.
