This information applies to licensing tasks which can be performed by Gun Dealers.
All required dealer/seller information will pre-populate based on the gun dealership's license information; this information is not editable. The Seller Information screen also provides two optional fields that dealers may use for internal sales tracking. The FA Transaction Number a unique tracking number used by the federal government to track licenesed gun sales. is the tracking number from the federal sales form. If you enter the FA Transaction Number, it will print in the upper-right corner of the FA-10 The form used by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to report all firearms transactions.. The Dealer Control Number an internal tracking number used by some gun dealers for their own auditing purposes. is a tracking number some gun dealerships assign to their sales and use for their own internal auditing purposes. If your business does not use dealer control numbers, leave this field blank.
To access this screen select a record whose sales status is "Sale In Draft." Seller Information is the first and default screen.
Directions:
Enter the FA Transaction number, if desired.
Enter the Dealer Control Number, if desired.
Click Save and Continue.
Results:
MIRCS Massachusetts Instant Record Check System, the computer application for which this user guide is written will save the data you entered and advance you to the Buyer Information - Address screen.
