This information applies to licensing tasks which can be performed by Gun Dealers.
Several factors will affect what screens you see when you complete a gun sale, including if and when you received the NICS National Instant Check System response, if you start and complete the sale in a single transaction, and whether the customer is a pre-MIRCS or MIRCS-issued license holder. Before you can complete a sales transaction you must record the NICS response, or record that NICS did not respond.
Please choose a topic below:
Help with the sale or denial completion screen. If you are completing the sale without having left the initial sales record, or you are denying a sale, you will advance directly to this screen. You will also see this screen after you've successfully re-verified the identity of the customer.
Help re-verifying the customer's ID. If you completing the sale after you leave the initial sales record, you will need to reverify the customer's ID before completing the sale.
Help reconfirming the NICS three-day response window has expired. If you did not receive a NICS response of either "Proceed" or "Deny" within three days of your request, you will need to re-confirm that NICS did provide a definitive response.
