Re-verify Customer ID

This information applies to licensing tasks which can be performed by Gun Dealers.

You will be required to re-verify the ID of the customer when you complete a sale separately from the initial sales transaction. The ID re-verification screen will vary depending on the type of ID required of the license holder. PIN Personal Identification Number or fingerprint verification will be required of MIRCS-issued license holders. You will be required to visually confirm the ID of pre-MIRCS license holders who do not have a PIN or fingerprint on record in MIRCS Massachusetts Instant Record Check System, the computer application for which this user guide is written.

To access this screen, select a record that was started in a previous context and whose sales status is "Sale in Draft with NICS National Instant Check System Proceed," "Sale in Draft with NICS Delay," or "Sale in Draft with No NICS Response."

Then click the Complete Sale/Denial link in the left side navigation (show me).

Directions:

  1. If the customer has a non-MIRCS license, re-verify the ID of the customer by visual confirmation, and click the Verify Identity button.



    Otherwise, if the customer has a MIRCS-issued license, reverify his or her ID by capturing a fingerprint, or entering the PIN.

Results:

When the ID is successfully confirmed, MIRCS will display the Sales Completion screen.
